Hosting And Toasting Bachelor Parties
Hosting bachelor parties on the night before the wedding is an age old tradition. Generally gentlemen of old used to sit around with their other gentlemen friends night prior to their wedding day. Good conversation, an occasional joke or two, smoking of quality cigars and drinking of the best scotch whiskey was how the evening went by. Everyone would be sedate and sober, and sensible conversation and partaking of quality food and snacks would be how the evening progressed.
Old married friends would advise the groom on the ups and downs of married life while unmarried friends would enjoy some good humor and light hearted conversation. The event was usually a very formal one with everyone dressed in black tie. Everything was within limits and everyone would drink in moderation. Finally with a toast to the bride and groom, the evening would end early keeping in mind next day's activities.
This tradition or celebration has undergone a sea change in recent times. The more rowdy and boisterous, more flashy and 'X' rated better will be the party and more will it be remembered for years to come. Bachelor parties do not include just a few old and faithfully friends any longer. Large parties which include all friends and acquaintances converge unannounced and uninvited at the venue. Many weeks of advance planning by the groom and his best men go into making this event the talk of the town. Flowing liquor, loud music, uncensored jokes, good natured poking and humoring the groom and an occasional stripper or two is what makes this bachelor's party a success. Often the boys go out and enter one of Las Vegas stripclubs to meet some fun.

It is usually up to the best man to plan the party. He is not only burdened with planning and organizing but also responsible for footing the bill and above all clearing up the mess after the party and dropping the groom back home. These no holds barred bachelor parties entail a lot of planning and preparation. Invitation of guests, seeing to availability of quality liquor, snacks, food, and above all, good female company as it is officially last time that the groom can be allowed to indulge in such activities. Most common and well known form of surprise is a skimpily dressed female popping out of a gigantic cake. Nothing has ever caused so much exhilaration and high spirits that this event and it is usually looked upon literally as the 'icing on the cake'.
Taking into consideration amount of fun, frolic, excess drinking and lateness of hour the groom is not in a fit condition the next day where he is usually exhausted and nursing a massive hangover. This causes much embarrassment for the bride and family and the groom does not enjoy his own wedding day to the full. Hence in recent times this bachelor party is planned and held a few days prior to the wedding and not just day before. This way the groom, best man and other close friends of the groom have a few days to recover before presenting themselves at their gentlemanly best on the day of the wedding.
